S: stem-changing verbs and affirmative and negative words. (See chapter 6A o:ue; 7A; e:ie and 9B e:i stem-changing verbs in Realidades 1 for additional practice and support material).  Note: It may be necessary to focus on alguien/nadie, algo/nada, siempre/nunca, también/tampoco and incorporate the other affirmative / negative words over the other chapters.

T: talk about extracurricular activities, compare people and things, say what people know and what they know how to do, say with whom or what people are familiar, ask and tell how long something has been going on, and understand cultural perspectives on extracurricular activities. S: making comparisons of equality: tan …como, and tantos …como, hace …que and saber vs. conocer.

S: preterit of regular verbs and demonstrative adjectives.  (See Chapter 7A in Realidades 1 for review material on clothing and 7B for a gradual introduction of the preterite.)

S: direct object pronouns, irregular preterit verbs: ir, ser, hacer, tener, estar, poder and the written accent.

T: Give directions for getting to places, give a friend directions for a task, discuss driving and good driving habits, and understand cultural perspectives on neighborhoods. S: irregular affirmative tú commands, irregular forms of the present progressive. (See Chapter 6B in Realidades for the explanation of the regular present progressive.)

T: Discuss childhood toys and games, describe what people were like as a child, talk about activities that people used to do as a child, discuss to or for whom something is done, and understand cultural perspectives on childhood songs. S: the regular imperfect tense, ir, ver and ser in the imperfect, and indirect object pronouns. Plug in: Mention that indirect object pronouns are also used with verbs like gustar: doler,  encantar, fascinar, importar, interesar,  and molestar.

T: describe an accident scene, talk about injuries and treatments, talk about what you were doing when an accident occurred, and understand cultural perspectives on health. S: irregular preterits – venir, poner, decir, and traer, also the imperfect progressive and preterit.
